Customize It

For my remix post, I wanted to use an object that I use every day. After searching for a while and thinking it over, I decided to do one of my Starbucks reusable cold cups. I typically use this every day for my morning coffee or for water to keep with me as I do my school work. The cup I chose is a pretty tall clear cup. I think it came with a dark green straw and a clear cap, but in the picture, it has a blue cap and a mint-colored straw. I actually have several of these cups (my mom and I both drink a lot of coffee in the morning so we go through the cups quickly) and there are a couple of different colors, patterns, etc. This helped me get started on my list of remixes for my cups.
I have several different cups, caps, and straws, so I can mix and match them (I included a picture of another one of my cups below the picture of the clear cup)
I could also paint the cups if I wanted to
Many of the cups also have the lines and stuff on them like real Starbucks cups do so I could write my order on there like they do at the store
This cup can also be used for more than just drinks (since I typically use it for my morning coffee or water)
It could be used to hold pens, pencils, etc
The clear cup could also be used to display something such as some sea glass I have collected over the years
I could put some snacks in there if I need to bring some with me (this might be kinda odd looking though lol)
My remix is much like what Ferguson describes throughout his Ted-Talk, it is a combination of things that I already have (other caps, straws, supplies like paint, etc) and just putting them together in a new way. Even my remixed of what my cup could be used for such as using it for snacks instead of drinks. People already thought of this with things like the Snackeez cup (here’s a commercial for it) I just modified the idea by putting my snacks straight in the cup. I also think my idea of putting pens and pencils came from the common practice of putting pencils, pens, etc into a mug (which I actually have on my desk and is pictured at the bottom).
Overall, I think this was the blog post that I have struggled the most with because I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to customize. However, once I got started, this was a great way to be creative and think outside of the box, so I ended up really enjoying the activity.
